Hey Dolls!  Today we are talking all about how to diversify your social media accounts to ensure you’re attracting the right people.  Identifying your ideal client and knowing where to find them is half the battle!  With so many different social media platforms, it can seem impossible to keep up!  Well in truth, it’s okay to not use EVERY social media platform out there; however, you do want to make sure you’re on the same platforms that your ideal clients are on.  What we recommend is thinking about who your ideal client is and nailing down what their goals in using social media would be.  Once you have done this, it will make it easier to know which platforms are the right ones for your brand!  For example, are you a member of the wedding industry?  You need to be on Pinterest right now!  Looking to attract a corporate market?  Be sure to be actively engaging on LinkedIn.  No matter who your ideal client is, being able to connect with them is vital to your brand’s success.  Now let’s take a look into some of the biggest social media platforms that businesses are using!

Facebook

This platform is by far the largest!  With over 60% of the users between the ages of 25-54, Facebook is known for being a great platform for building relationships.  The broad appeal of Facebook allows you the chance to turn your customer base into a community.  Keep in mind that because this is the largest of the platforms, this is also where you will find a lot of competition for attention.

Twitter

Twitter is a great place for posting immediate thoughts.  With only 280 characters or less allowed per tweet, you must be concise, informative, and hook your audience quickly.  This can be tricky, but when done correctly, users appreciate brand’s witty and interesting tweets.  Brands have also been known to use Twitter accounts to update and reach out to its customers quickly.

Instagram

We are big Instagram fans at POSH PR®.  Instagram uses visual content as the hook to draw people in.  We like to think of it as a mix of both Facebook and Twitter because of the way it combines images with short captions.  Companies focused in fashion, beauty, and health find great success in the young and trendy crowd on the platform.  Facebook owns Instagram so there are many similarities in the available features.  It also is helpful because of the ad targeting options available to companies.  This makes it a great platform for engagement and for building brand awareness.

LinkedIn

This is the platform to use if you are looking to build brand authority. It is also an ideal place for sharing editorial content.  The true power of networking comes into play on LinkedIn!  With a demographic of both male and females between the ages of 25-64, this is a perfect place to connect on a professional level.  LinkedIn is a platform that can be used to find people to hire for your company, but it’s also helpful when you’re looking for inspiration from like-minded businesses.

Pinterest

We mentioned before that if you’re in the wedding industry, then Pinterest will be your best friend!  This is because a large amount of brides search Pinterest for inspiration.  The majority of Pinterest users are females.  As a graphic-heavy platform, there is a focus on decor, fashion, wedding, and travel.  If you choose this platform for your company, be sure to have great visual content to act as the “hook” for your ideal client!
