It’s time for a Boss Doll® Spotlight! Today we’re introducing you to Holly Hudson — a fashion designer with an accessories line that makes us swoon! Holly is the Creator and Owner of Hoo Hoops!!! This company was started because Holly was trying to find a solution to a problem — little did she know, she was forging her path as a female entrepreneur! The PR Dolls are absolutely swooning over Hoo Hoops. We just can’t get enough! What was the inspiration behind your brand?
Starting in high school I would throw on a pair of hoops with about any outfit, but I soon came to realize that it was difficult to find a nice pair of affordable + hypoallergenic hoop earrings. My senior year of college I decided that I would design my perfect hoop earring and produce it in a hypoallergenic metal for the posts and acrylic for the hoop so I could change up the colors and so they would be super lightweight!
We’d love to know how you came up with the name Hoo Hoops! Can you tell us the story behind the brand name?
While playing on sports teams my entire life and throughout college I had the nickname of Hoo. So when I decided to create a line revolving around hoop earrings I thought there is no better name for the company than Hoo Hoops!
Have you always been interested in being a part of the fashion world?
I have always loved and had an eye for fashion, it has been a dream to be part of the fashion world with my line.
Hoo Hoops started as an earring company, but you’ve recently expanded your product line. We’d love to hear more about #dollthethings!
Yes! Hoops are definitely our go-to accessory, but we have recently expanded to 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm Gold Plated Bracelets (that are PERFECT for stacking with your other bracelets) and our Hoo logo shorts sweatsuit! This sweatsuit is SO comfy and has a simple yet stylish design that I absolutely love.
The fashion industry can be a competitive one! What tips + tricks do you use to stand out in the crowd?
Always know your products advantages over others in the same category whether it may be price, weight, color selection, etc.
Being a female entrepreneur is no small feat. What advice have you received along the way that helped you on your journey?
I have received lots of advice but the best/my favorite advice comes from your Head Doll herself — Caroline!! BE YOUR BRAND! I always make sure no matter where I go, I am wearing something from my line. I love showing people that my brand can be worn any day with any outfit.
What would your personal advice be to a fellow Boss Doll® on her own entrepreneurial journey?
My personal advice to a fellow Boss Doll would be to support, support, support (can't say it enough) and lift up other women entrepreneurs! This is HUGE for your company and theirs. It is so much more beneficial to everyone to collab instead of compete.
Okay and one last question just for fun! What is your favorite Hoo Hoops color?
Mmmm hard one because I love them all! I think I would go with our baby blue though!
