Keeping up with the #DOLLidays AND your Biz!

I am sure many of you know this already but in case you don’t — being a Boss Doll® is a full time job all year round! Many people believe that businesses slow down during the #DOLLidays but that’s not always the case especially when you’re an entrepreneur like many of you Doll readers are!  

As the #DOLLidays sneak up on us in life, it is important that we make time for our personal life, too! The common slogan “Work Hard, Play Hard” can be difficult for us Boss Dolls® to accept the “play” part as we are so business focused but it’s an important part of life we all need to cherish!  With the current global pandemic, spending the holidays means more than ever no matter how you’re celebrating. Whether that means just spending it at home with your loved one or a zoom meeting with your entire extended family, it is important we take the time to spend the #DOLLidays with those who mean the most!

As a business woman, it can be a challenge to balance the #DOLLidays and your business at the same time so we’re giving you these 5 Tips you need to include both your fun + play this time of year…

1. Write it down!

This may seem like common sense but it’s so true… write down everything you need! Write down your to-do’s, your Christmas gifts, the decorations you need to put up, the Christmas cards you need to send out… write it all! You ever get that thought in your head about what you need to go then automatically tell yourself “I’ll get to that later”? Well, there’s a very high percentage you will forget it, so write it down! Keep your list in a place that you constantly check — notes in your phone, a white board in your office, or in your agenda! There are studies that show writing in blue or red ink help your memory… even though we wish it was pink ink, we totally recommend giving this bonus tip a try!

2. Schedule out your day

Do you ever find yourself spending too much time on one task where you don’t get to finish the rest on your list? It happens to all of us because we’re human! This may sound tedious but I recommend planning out your day by the hour! Sure, we can’t always plan out each individual part of our day but if we have a base schedule to follow that will help ensure you cover all of your to-dos for the day!

3. Split your time between fun + play each day!

Sometimes it is super easy to say “Oh I’ll do that tomorrow! Or I’ll just go Christmas shopping tomorrow after work!”…. then the next day comes around and something else comes up so you keep putting the task off! You get the point, Dolls! So we recommend making your holiday priorities and work a priority each day! This ensures you are making an effort each day towards your to-do list! Take your holiday to-dos just as you Boss Dolls® take your work seriously!

4. Combine both if you can!

There is nothing wrong with listening to a Christmas playlist in the background of your workday! You can totally combine your work and holiday spirit! There are absolutely no rules, well at least in our book, that say you can’t! Make use of your time wisely, Dolls! I know you’re probably thinking right now, “well duh, of course. I always do that!”. But, no seriously! If you can do your online Christmas shopping during your lunch break — do it! You can even put up some holiday decor at your desk to make work feel more into the #DOLLidays spirit! No one says you have to completely separate the work and #DOLLidays! The holiday spirit is always worth celebrating so don’t forget to celebrate with your coworkers! We consider ourselves at POSH PR® to be a Doll family so celebrating is must for us!

5. Remember to… RELAX!

Yes. The #DOLLidays activities can be considered the “play” aspect of your life at times but not always! Planning that holiday party, cooking for your family, or even holiday shopping can be exhausting! So like any time of the year, #DOLLidays or not, make sure you rest! Take time to pour your favorite cocktail (ours is Champagne of course, because Champagne is Always The Answer!®) and sit by the fire! Take time to take in life, in whatever relaxing activity that may be for you!
